In 1999, we entered into a joint venture agreement with Rahan Meristem Ltd., an Israeli banana germplasm company. Rahan Meristem accounts for approximately 10% of the worldwide export of banana seedlings. The 50/50 joint venture is built around our technology and Rahan Meristem’s expertise in developing and marketing enhanced banana seedlings to the world’s leading banana companies.
The goal of the joint venture is to ultimately sell banana seedlings which have enhanced resistance to environmental stress and yield fruit which haven enhanced shelf life. All of our joint research is proceeding according to schedule.
